Vashon’s second COVID-19 Town Hall will take place Saturday, April 25, from 10 am to 11:30 am. It will have a panel of island experts joining Fire Chief Charlie Krimmert and leaders of the all-volunteer Vashon Emergency Operations Center to answer questions about COVID-19 and the island’s response to layoffs, business closures, food availability, testing, transportation issues and what happens when Stay Home restrictions ease.  View the Town Hall live in English at http://Facebook.com/backbonevashon/live or http://Vashonresilience.org, or an audio only broadcast will be live on Voice of Vashon at 101.9 FM. A live Spanish translation is available through a Zoom conference, if you wish to view the Town Hall translated live in Spanish, please sign up here: http://VashonResilience.org/esp. You will receive log-in information via email.   If you cannot attend the live broadcast, you will find links to recordings of both the Spanish and English versions on the Voice of Vashon website, voiceofvashon.org, later Saturday.Thank you t o Backbone Vashon and Voice of Vashon

Many of us have not left the Island for many days or weeks, which is exactly what we're supposed to be doing. But if you do have an urgent need to leave the Island, remember that the West Seattle high-rise bridge is closed at least until 2022 for structural repairs. Also be aware that the lower bridge is restricted to transit, emergency vehicles and freight. Seattle Police have started ticketing pretty aggressively, so if you forget about the closure next time you head into town, and are tempted to try the lower bridge, it might be a very expensive trip.  https://westseattleblog.com/2020/04/west-seattle-bridge-closure-low-bridge-enforcement-begins/

It is worth planning to take West Marginal South to the 1st Ave. South bridge. Project updates and alternate travel routes are available at this website:  http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/bridges-stairs-and-other-structures/bridges/west-seattle-high-rise-bridge-safety-project
