Kristen Lee is a family physician from Soldotna, Alaska. As a consequence of her father‘s work in the Air Force, her family moved to the most suburban town in Alaska when she was 12 years old, Eagle River. She attended Hanover College in Indiana and then University of Washington for medical school.

During medical school, she participated in the WRITE program, which placed her in Soldotna for six months working under Dr. Katy Sheridan and Dr. Kristin Mitchell. She completed a family medicine residency in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In 2012 she opened Upstream Family Medicine with the assistance of her husband, Will Lee, and Dr. Sheridan, who encouraged and supported the practice. Since then, she has been practicing outpatient family medicine with inpatient obstetrics and pediatrics at Central Peninsula Hospital, also moonlighting as hospitalist there until 2016.

In 2025 she earned recognition as Family Physician of the Year from the Alaska Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), and in 2026 she is serving as the president of the Alaska AAFP. She has been on the clinical faculty at University of Washington, primarily working as a TRUST preceptor for eight years. She spends her spare time with her husband and 2 children, or knitting, baking way too much sourdough, and exercising to make up for the sourdough.
