Dr. Barry Grosskopf is the founder of the Comprehensive Community Clinic in Glenville, WV, and served as County Public Health Officer for Gilmer County, WV (1972–1974). His early work in rural health care drew national attention, including coverage in The Dance of Legislation (1973), RN magazine (1973), and the Scripps Howard press (1973), and led to an invited presentation before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on the Allocation of Health Care Resources, chaired by Senator Edward Kennedy (1973). He went on to lecture across the National Health Service Corps in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia (1974), and has led numerous workshops, including the “Healing the Generations” series.

Dr. Grosskopf later served as Consulting Psychiatrist to Highline West Seattle Mental Health/Navos in Seattle, WA (1999–2014), and as Medical Director of Transitional Resources (2006–2014). He also worked as Psychiatric Consultant to the Tulalip Tribe.

He is the co-author of “Cost Effectiveness, Intensive Community Support,” published in Hospital and Community Psychiatry (September 1988), and author of Forgive Your Parents, Heal Yourself: How Understanding Your Painful Family Legacy Can Transform Your Life (New York: Free Press, a division of Simon and Schuster, June 1999).
