Covid Testing Options at Home & on Vashon

Vashon's Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) can answer questions about testing. If have had an exposure to Covid, or have tested positive for Covid, please call MRC at 844-469-4554. We can discuss isolation/quarantine strategies and refer you to support services or help you to obtain medical services.

At-home / Rapid Antigen Tests:

Free home Covid tests are available from Washington State. Each address is eligible to receive 10 free tests per month (although this may change). Check availability and register at https://sayyescovidhometest.org

Most health insurance plans will cover up to 8 free Covid tests per month. https://www.cms.gov/how-to-get-your-at-home-OTC-COVID-19-test-for-free

Vashon Island School District offers no-cost antigen testing to VISD staff, students, and families, M-F 7:30-11:30. No appointment is necessary, but registration forms are available online to fill out in advance.  https://www.vashonsd.org/Page/557

Vashon Pharmacy: The Pharmacy sells at-home antigen tests, and provides proctored rapid antigen tests that may be required for proof-of-covid-status, and well as PCR testing. Testing is available for those with and without symptoms, for diagnosis, travel, pre-procedure, and more. PCR Testing Options

For those who still need PCR tests, which are more sensitive than home antigen tests, there are still options, but access to them might change as they become less necessary. Generally PCR tests take hours or days, but some rapid PCR testing is available.

UW West Seattle: The location is fairly close to the north end ferry terminal at Fauntleroy at 2801 SW Thistle Street (SW Athletic Center) and offers PCR testing by appointment:

Multicare Indigo Acute Care Ruston: This clinic located near the south end ferry terminal at Point Defiance performs rapid PCR tests, standard PCR tests, and tests for travel and procedures. For symptomatic patients, patients’ insurance will be billed for a medical visit and the test.
